Full-mouth rebuild with airway in mind

Patient presented with traumatic occlusion (bite) due to deep bite and pathway wear. This means his teeth rub in such a way that while chewing, both teeth and existing dentistry breakdown. We also discovered he had an underlying airway issue that contributed to this problem, creating sleep disturbed breathing. He had been restored to a bad bite—that is why dentistry would not last.

Solution

We rebuilt his dentition with two single tooth implants and 24 crowns. In doing this, we increased his vertical dimension, which corrected his bite issues and eliminated the trauma. Then using facially generated treatment planning we rebuilt his smile, creating an amazing facial esthetic. The increase in vertical dimension decreased his upper airway resistance, which, in turn, eliminated the airway issue with the help of a nighttime appliance.

Restoring a smile that lasts

Patient presented with failing dentition and was quite frustrated as dentistry did not seem to last. We found she had an underlying sleep issue (nighttime mouth breathing) contributing to acid reflux. The acid was breaking down her dentistry.

Solution

We helped her keep her mouth closed at night with the use of some nighttime aids, and then rebuilt her dentition with single tooth implants and dental crowns. This created a remarkable transformation. She is thriving! Knowing we eliminated the root cause of her initial issues gives us confidence that her results will last.

Airway-first orthodontics

Patient presented with narrow arches and dental crowding. As a result, while in function, her teeth were starting to wear unevenly and negatively impacted her aesthetic.

Solution

We developed an “airway first orthodontic plan” that expanded her arches and created room for her teeth within the dental arches. This, in turn, creates a better facial esthetic and “unravels” the crowding much more predictably. This was all accomplished with SureSmile clear Aligners!
